The current machinery in the ultrasound department is now almost 7 years old. In that time technology has advanced substantially and the quality of imaging available has improved dramatically. Patients now expect that good quality images will be obtained and that fetal abnormalities will be detected. With our current machinery, women regularly have to return for repeat scans and, unfortunately, some common problems and abnormalities are missed as the resolution of imaging is so limited. In order to maintain a high quality of care for women and to ensure that we are leading the way in both fetal diagnosis and imaging, it is imperative to update this equipment.
