How you can help

Entertainment & Fun Activities for Children

For many children spending time in hospital can be unsettling and difficult. Alongside their medical condition children often face difficult issues such as on-going physical pain, boredom, feelings of isolation and low self esteem.

Having gone from their home environment to a world of medical equipment and the hustle and bustle of daily hospital life, Yorkhill Childrens Foundation recognises the importance of keeping children occupied, entertaining them and encouraging mental, physical and social development.

Over the last ten years, with the help of our supporters, Yorkhill Children’s Foundation have provided funding for many fun and entertaining activities for children including;

  • £81,000 towards musical therapy for both day care and in-patients throughout the hospital, bringing creative and interactive opportunities for the children.
  • £275,000 towards the building of the hospital Medicinema; the first ever cinema in a children’s Hospital in the UK. This purpose built cinema has brought hours of fun and entertainment to the hospital in a space which can accommodate patients in beds and wheelchairs.
  • Yorkhill Children’s Foundation has funded over £51,000 towards the much loved Clown Doctors since 2003. The Clown Doctors encourage communication, interaction and laughter amongst children in the hospital.
