Around 150,000 children from all over Scotland attend the Royal Hospital for Sick Children at Yorkhill, Glasgow each year for treatment. Yorkhill Children’s Foundation aims to provide all the ‘extra’ services and pieces of equipment which help make their stay in hospital that little bit easier. From state of the art medical equipment to children’s entertainers, every project we fund helps put a smile back on children’s faces.

As little Nathan Lawrie blew out the candles on his fifth birthday cake last June, his parents couldn't help worrying about his upcoming major operation just weeks away.Since he'd been born, Nathan, from Hamilton, had suffered problems with his heart which is on the wrong side of his chest. But last year he underwent open heart surgery to improve blood flow around his body - and his life has been transformed. Now he's looking forward to his sixth birthday on Sunday and a real reason to celebrate after his successful operation. Before the surgery, Nathan would tire easily and had to use a pushchair for frequent rests.
