Having a bright, welcoming and relaxing environment is essential to make children and their families feel as comfortable as possible and at ease within the hospital environment. It is also important to make sure the hospital staffs, who work so hard every day, have a work environment which has the space and facilities they need to continue doing such a great job. Thanks to the generosity of our supporters Yorkhill Children’s Foundation has funded a number of projects over the past 10 years which have been focused on improving the hospital for patients, families and staff. Some of these projects inlude:

• £1.1 million was raised in 2003 to improve and revive the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit
• £200,000 towards a Therapeutic Art and Design project to enhance the new maternity unit at the Southern General Hospital, relocated from Yorkhill
• £100,000 towards the refurbishment of ward 7A, which treats children with neurological conditions. Ward 7A has many long term patients who really benefit from improved facilitites

• £2,000 towards wall mounted TV/DVD players for children within the Orthotics department to enjoy and to distract them from their treatments
