Over the last ten years, thanks to the help of our supporters, Yorkhill Children’s Foundation has funded over £8 million towards the cost of innovative medical equipment, improvements in child and family facilities, paediatric research and training and many other projects and service enhancements.
Amongst many other projects, some of the medical equipment we have funded includes:
-
-
A Laparoscopic Surgical Theatre with state-of-the-art equipment allowing complex keyhole surgery on sick children
-
A Cardiac Ultrasound Scanner allowing quick and detailed analysis of children with heart conditions as well as two Cardiac Ultrasound Machines - vital in the evaluation and treatment of children with suspected or confirmed cardiac abnormalities
-
A CHUNC Spica Wheelchair for children with Cerebral Palsy who have special wheelchair needs
-
A Paediatric Intensive Care Ambulance which will provide mobile intensive care treatment to critically ill children being transferred from hospitals throughout Scotland to Yorkhill
-
A 3-D Intraoperative Echocardiography (ECHO) machine allowing surgeons to provide optimal repair of congenital heart defects. The ECHO Machine allows surgeons to detect such defects before birth therefore providing unborn babies with the best possible chance of survival
